The mission of Ha'Aretz Canaan Dogs is to preserve, protect and develop the Canaan Dog outlined in the same beauty of form and brightness of mind which greeted its founders, Drs. R. and R. Menzel, in the Land of Canaan nearly 70 years ago.

Bred to retain the physical and working qualities that the Menzels recognized and developed, the Ha'Aretz dogs strive to carry on these desirable traits and keep breed type as they go to their new families.  New owners may expect affectionate, responsive companions, natural watch dogs, and willing competitors in performance events.

Ha'Aretz means "The Land," and is named for the Land of Israel.  Canaan Dogs are named for the "Land of Canaan," and are natural inhabitants of that Land.
